Job Description
A vacancy has arisen for a Post Doctoral Research Fellow for a period of 6 months within the Clinical and Experimental Sciences Academic Unit in the University of Southampton.
The person appointed will join a team investigating control of the epithelial barrier in asthma.
We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious person who thrives in an exciting and busy academic environment, and has a flair for meticulous work. You will be expected to be organized, self-motivated and effective, working as part of a team. A PhD in a relevant field is an essential requirement (minimum requirement is a PhD thesis submitted before the beginning of the contract). Experience in primary cell culture and assessment of cellular barrier integrity using an integrated approach that includes protein expression and visualisation techniques, transepithelial electrical resistance measurements and macromolecular permeability studies are essential requirements. Experience in molecular biology and study of cytokine expression and pathway analysis will also be valuable.
The post is available from March 2012, for 6 months.
