Job Description

You are invited to apply for a career enhancing opportunity as a Teaching/Senior Research Fellow under the tutelage of Professor Hugh Perry in the Neuroscience division of the Biomedical Sciences Group in the Centre for Biological Sciences.  You will have a proven track record in your field of research and the ability to develop an independent programme of research in the area of neuroscience with a focus on neuro-immune interactions, together with carrying out a programme of similar research with Professor Perry .

You will also support the teaching objectives of the Centre for Biological Sciences by delivering teaching to students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, through lectures, tutorials, practicals, seminars and supervision in the areas of neuroscience and biomedical science.

With a PhD in a relevant area, you will have significant experience and detailed understanding of neuroscience and/or neuro-immunology with a growing research reputation evidenced by your research profile and outputs.  Teaching and supervisory experience at undergraduate or postgraduate level is essential and a teaching qualification (PCAP or membership of the Higher Education Academy) is desirable.

You will be based in the Biological Sciences labs at Southampton General Hospital, with teaching commitments on the main Highfield Campus.

The post is available from 1 August 2012 for a period of five years.
