Job Description

Senior Research Assistant- ESRC-DFID, Part-time (0.5 fte, fixed term 2 years )

Applications are invited from candidates with interest in the economics of migration, for a two year senior research assistantship within Social Sciences (Economics), University of Southampton.

The Economics Division has recently been awarded an ESRC-DFID grant to study temporary migration in North Africa. This position requires a Postgraduate qualification in Economics (preferably enrolment in an economics PhD program). Experience in statistical/ econometric analysis of micro dataand an interest in the economics of migration are required.

The main responsibilities of this position would be to provide assistance with research on this ESRC-DFID project led by Dr Jackie Wahba, the Principal Investigator. The work will involve data preparation and analysis, and requires strong quantitative skills. The candidate should be able to work independently.

The post will commence on 1st of April 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a 0.5 fte fixed term position for 2 years.
